AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are asking the public for help in finding the man who attacked three females in three separate incidents early Friday morning.

The attacks all happened before 7:30 a.m. -- two which were less than a mile from each other.

The first happened at 5:34 a.m. at 1600 South Congress Ave. , the second at 6:41 a.m. at South First Street and Barton Springs Road and the last at 7:18 a.m. on the pedestrian bridge in the 20 block of the North Interstate Highway 35 service road.

Suspect description

  • Black male in his mid-30s
  • 5 feet 10 inches tall to 6 feet tall
  • Weighs 180 pounds
  • Stocky build
  • Short hair with a goatee

The suspect was last seen wearing a darker shirt with lighter-color baggy shorts.

Austin Police Department Cpl. Anthony Hipolito said there was no apparent motivation, but there is video surveillance that APD's Sex Crimes Unit released to the public -- attached to this story.

The woman in the first attack was beaten and taken to the hospital due to injuries. However, the second and third victims were not hurt as they pushed the suspect away after he grabbed them from behind, they told police.

Police have been able to draw a composite sketch of what the suspect looks like and have released surveillance video of the suspect walking down the street -- though the camera never catches the front of his face.

APD's Sex Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sex Crimes Tip Line at 512-974-5230.
